Snowing on Tuesday...

So I went to bed last night feeling really gross--stopped up, sinus headache, coughing, voice gone--the works. Right before I went to bed, I posted on my Facebook status that it would be really nice for school to get delayed due to the impending snow.

Five a.m., I get the automated phone call from the school saying we would be delayed 2 hours. Thank you, Lord, for answering my prayer. So I reset the alarm clock, and went back to bed feeling really bad (after taking more cold meds!) Woke up around 8 to my phone ringing again. It was my Dad telling me that my school system had just announced that school was cancelled for the full day!! Not only did my prayer get answered, I got more than I asked for.

Isn't it great how God does that for us? We stress out, complain, and lose faith over such silly trivial things. Sometimes, even though we are clueless dopes, we get this great idea to PRAY! What blows my mind is what we do and don't pray for. We pray for people that are sick with cancer, for that big promotion or career starting job, for safety when we travel; but why don't we pray for the little things? Things like a snow day, or the recall to make an A on a quiz, or a coupon for your fave shampoo... I know they seem trivial, but if we believe God will take care of the "big stuff," why don't we give Him the opportunity to handle the small stuff? I am not saying become legalistic and pray over every single little detail of life--there are always some things you should just do and just know as a Believer--but give God the credit He deserves!! If you need a snow day, ask for it. He knows what we need better than we do. Let go of the control, and allow God to give you what you truly need.

So, I got my much needed snow day of rest. I stayed in bed til about 9:30 watching Rachel Ray, then got up and cooked myself breakfast! I made scrambled eggs with pepper jack cheese, toast, and some tater tots (that was as close as we had to hashbrowns lol). Had some OJ with it, and spent the morning relaxing, talking to Amy on FB, and catching up on some shows I had DVR'd. I still have the cold/sinus infection, but that is under control. Overall, I feel better.

Being silly and trying to get in the spirit of "blogging," I took some pictures of my breakfast. :D

Yummmm!!

Almost there...

done, Done, and DONE!
So, "don't sweat the small stuff." Give it to God, and when those "silly" prayer requests are answered, give Him the glory and ENJOY!

Procrastinator's paradise...

Well... I fell into the temptation. I created a blog. Mostly because two of my fabulous BCFs (best cousins FO-evah) have them, and they said "do iiiiiiiiiiiit!" and "yesssssssssss! EVERYONE--go forth and blog!" So, read their blogs sometime--Heather and Amy.

I don't really have any idea what to make this blog about... so I guess I'll explain the name a little bit.

I know, it is strange. It comes mostly from the term my Dad uses to explain what Mom & I do to the house around the holidays. No, not those holidays. Holidays--in general. Of course we decorate for Christmas, but we take it about a thousand miles farther than most. We decorate for fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, winter, Christmas, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, spring, Easter, summer, July 4th... you get the idea. Every holiday known to man, we decorate. No, we are not those freaks with the giant blow ups in the yard. Actually, we rarely decorate outside. But inside... oh my dear. It is always decked out. We have boxes upon boxes of what Dad affectionately calls: "Froo Froo." The word "Froo Froo" can be a noun, for example, "Go unpack all the froo froo for Easter." It can also be a verb, for example, "Oh no, Mom & Whitney are froo froo-ing up the house."

I live at home again, after living away and on my own for about 4 or 5 years. That means I have accumulated my own Froo Froo stash. Most of mine stays in the storage closet out in the garage, because we would never ever be able to use all mine and Mom's stuff. A lot of my Froo Froo has migrated to my job (Family & Consumer Science teacher), so not only is the house Froo Frooed, my classroom is as well. Right now I am really wanting to have my own place again so I can start the Froo Froo process from the ground up... but that is a topic for another day.

Not only do I enjoy Froo Frooing up the house... I love to Froo Froo myself up. I am a girly girl all the way, but not in the crazy obsessed about looks way. I love make up and doing hair, but I rarely do it for myself. I love Love LOVE shopping, and do it far too often. I may not ever wear make up to work, but I will have on a cute outfit. ;) I absolutely love all things domestic--sewing, baking, doing craft projects, decorating, cleaning--yes, at times I love cleaning, however my current situation does not always allow for it, but that is also a topic for another day--doing laundry, and just about any other domestic things you can imagine. After all, I am a "home ec" teacher. Oh, top that all off with the fact that I have recently started an apron collection! (If you find any great vintage aprons or just amazing aprons, send them my way!)

So, Froo Froo in General is a pretty good summation of who I am. Girly girl, domestic diva in the making, sometimes flighty and airheaded, easily amused and excited about the silliest things, but all in all pretty darn happy with my froo froo little life.
